The higher I climb
The more I fear the fall

heady with the height
and giddy with gripping fear
I scramble for footholds

Knowing that one slip
will send me down

Down in a barrage of dust and skittering stones
clawing wildly for something solid
only to bloody my hands on loose stone

I know the slip is coming
And knowing it
I fear landing
bruised
torn and exhausted

broken
from both the fall
and from the shame of it

It is hard to make yourself climb again

It is heartbreaking

to drag yourself up
and crawl painstakingly
over ground already covered

I especially like this part:
I know the slip is coming
And knowing it
I fear landing
bruised
torn and exhausted

Nice emotion you played on there, fearing something that you know is coming. Most of our lives are lived that way, I guess. This also totally works as a free verse. Was the lack of punctuation intentional?
